Initiated by United Nations, governments around the world came together in 2015 and made a historic promise to secure the rights and well-being of everyone on a healthy, thriving planet when they adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Agenda serves as the global guide to eradicating poverty, safeguarding the environment, and addressing disparities. The 17 SDGs, which form the foundation of the Agenda, provide a highly feasible and efficient approach to address the root causes of violent conflicts, human rights violations, climate change, and environmental deterioration, with the goal of leaving no one behind. The SDGs demonstrate a recognition that sustainable development worldwide must encompass economic advancement, social welfare, and environmental conservation.
