ESG in Banking

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has integrated ESG criteria into the banking sector, aligning with Egypt’s sustainable development strategy. The government’s involvement in the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) enhances the green economy and digital finance. The CBE has issued Sustainable Finance Guiding Principles, mandated comprehensive reporting, and utilized digital tools for climate risk management.

Joining the NGFS provides access to global expertise, aiding in regulatory development and climate risk stress tests. This aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the National Climate Change Strategy, ensuring the financial sector supports sustainable development goals and a low-carbon economy.
