Botswana’s government, through Botswana Post, launched Digi post, a digital post office platform to modernize the nation’s financial infrastructure and promote economic growth. This initiative enhances financial inclusivity by enabling individuals and small businesses to offer digital postal services like PosoMoney transactions and virtual post boxes. Future plans include adding USSD features for broader access.
Aiming to reach over 500,000 people, primarily youth and women, within three years, the government leverages a network of 136 digitally equipped post offices and biometric POS terminals. This digital transformation supports financial services expansion and significant growth in the digital payments market.
