Smoke-Emitting Vehicles

Pakistan’s government is launching digital monitoring systems to track and manage vehicular emissions, addressing Lahore’s severe pollution problem. The Punjab Environment Protection Department’s report revealed that Lahore leads with 5,113 fines for smoke-emitting vehicles, followed by Multan and Faisalabad. Despite traffic police efforts, the situation remains critical.

The Lahore High Court has mandated the impounding of such vehicles, urging immediate action. Digital solutions will enhance enforcement and compliance, aiming to reduce smog and improve air quality across major cities in Punjab.
