Malaysia targets digital economy boost

The government of Malaysia aims for the digital economy to comprise 25.5% of GDP by late next year, up from the current 23%. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo highlighted infrastructure enhancements, such as expanding Internet access, as pivotal for increasing online participation and economic growth. He emphasized the digital economy’s potential to enhance Malaysia’s global economic standing and boost national revenue.

Gobind urged industry players to emulate MYDIN’s adaptation to digital trends, underscoring their role in advancing Malaysia’s digital economy. MYDIN’s managing director, Datuk Wira Dr Ameer Ali Mydin, affirmed the company’s commitment to embracing the digital era and fintech advancements.
