Smart Cities Mission Extended

The Indian Government has extended the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) under the Union Urban Development Ministry until March 2025, demonstrating a strong commitment to urban digital transformation. Launched in 2015, this mission aims to develop 100 cities into model smart cities through innovative digital infrastructure and area development plans. As of the latest update, 90% of the planned 7,188 projects have been completed, with ongoing efforts addressing the remaining 10% of projects.

The extension reflects the government’s proactive role in ensuring that smart city initiatives are completed effectively, using the allocated budget without additional costs. This extension emphasizes the government’s role in leveraging digital solutions for urban development and enhancing the quality of urban life.
