Somalia’s Digital Defense

The Somali government is leveraging digital strategies to combat al-Shabab, which has reversed gains made by the Somali National Army over the past two years. Collaborating with Houthi militants, al-Shabab has strengthened through recruitment and financing. Despite setbacks, the government maintains control over 90% of liberated territories and emphasizes the importance of digital transparency and international support. 

U.S. officials stress continued assistance to address security challenges and prevent weapons smuggling into Somalia. This digital approach aims to enhance national security and stabilize the region, countering the advanced threats posed by al-Shabab and Houthi collaboration.
