Cybersecurity Framework Needed

The Pakistan Government is urged to form a joint committee, including IT industry representatives and business leaders, to develop a cybersecurity framework. Recent internet disruptions, attributed to a new national firewall, have caused significant losses estimated at $300 million for the IT sector, impacting its performance and international reputation.

The lack of industry consultation has eroded confidence among international clients and threatens the sector’s growth. Immediate action from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom is essential to resolve the issue and protect national interests.
