Japan Government Drives Digital

The Japanese government warns of significant economic losses without rapid digital transformation, particularly as businesses approach a potential JPY 12 trillion annual loss due to slow digital adoption. To address this, the government, through its Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), is incentivizing digital transformation efforts, especially among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The government has introduced the Digital Governance Code and support platforms like “Mira-Digi” to enhance digital practices in industries.

Public-private collaboration is crucial for driving digital innovation in Japan. Companies are integrating AI, blockchain, and other digital tools to improve efficiency across sectors such as retail, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods.
