Japan’s Automated Cargo Plan

The Japanese government is developing an automated cargo transport system between Tokyo and Osaka to address the truck driver shortage and rising delivery demands. This “conveyor belt road” will utilize digital technology for 24-hour unmanned transport, reducing workloads and carbon emissions. Integrated with airports and railways, automated loading will further streamline logistics, while driverless technology may eventually handle last-mile deliveries.

As Japan faces a declining labor force, the government’s focus on digital logistics solutions is essential to maintain transport capacity and improve safety. The system may expand nationwide, optimizing freight delivery efficiency.
