THINK DIGITAL SUSTAINABILITY FOR GOVERNMENT

A core componenet of its election campaign, the Government is starting to translate its sustainability proposals into priorities and policies. Within the public sector, the focus is on implementing Net Zero initiatives, alongside improving climate resilience and preparation across central government, local authorities, communities and emergency services.

This is particularly relevant considering the noise around artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential impact within government. A double-edged sword, AI can offer sustainability advances – such as climate risk modelling and disaster forecasting – but it is also a vast drain on electricity and water. With sustainability now a critical component of public sector contracts, this conference will look at some key opportunities and challenges for public bodies and their suppliers, and explore current thinking and best practices around sustainability in government.
