A new initiative is underway to help teenagers disconnect from their smartphones during the school day. The government is investing €9m in specially designed pouches that will lock away students’ phones in post-primary schools. This move aims to promote a healthier balance between technology use and mental well-being.
The innovative pouches will be purchased in bulk, with each one expected to cost between €20 to €30. Schools will have control over when students can access their phones through a central mechanism. The goal is to give students a much-needed “mental health break” from their devices during the school day.
