Portugal’s National Digital Strategy 2030 has secured EUR 355 million in funding for 2025-2026. The investment aims to boost digital skills among citizens, especially seniors, and increase the number of young people in ICT and STEM fields. The goal is to increase digital skills among citizens to 80% from 44%. This will be achieved through various initiatives and programmes.
The strategy also targets businesses, aiming to increase digitisation and AI adoption among SMEs. Plans include expanding 5G coverage to 100% of the territory, promoting cloud computing, and strengthening cybersecurity within public administration. A pilot project will offer robotics, programming, and AI training to young people in ten municipalities from 2025. The ultimate goal is to increase AI adoption in companies to 75% by 2030.
