Samoa is taking a significant step towards sustainable transportation with the introduction of 76 electric vehicles, including charging stations across 16 sites. This initiative is part of the Climate Action Pathways for Island Transport project, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote eco-friendly transportation. The electric fleet comprises various vehicles, such as sedans, SUVs, minibuses, and trucks, serving multiple purposes beyond official engagements. This project is a crucial part of Samoa’s efforts to build a cleaner and more resilient transportation system.
The electric vehicles will be used for passenger transport, with 20 minibuses allocated for this purpose. The project also includes establishing a network of charging stations, training programs for EV technicians, and a transport decarbonization strategy to ensure a sustainable transition.
