Vietnam has taken a significant step towards advancing its digital economy with the establishment of the Central Steering Committee for the Development of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation. The committee aims to boost the digital economy’s contribution to the country’s GDP to at least 30% by 2030 and 50% by 2045. This initiative is designed to position Vietnam as a regional leader in digital technology and innovation.
The government plans to focus on developing institutional frameworks, human resources, infrastructure, data management, and strategic technologies to ensure rapid and sustainable progress. Vietnam aims to become a regional leader in digital competitiveness, E-Government Development, and artificial intelligence (AI) research. The country also strives to be a hub for digital technology industries and foster at least five enterprises comparable to those in advanced nations.
