Costa Rica’s 5G

The Costa Rica government has implemented stringent regulations for companies seeking contracts related to the development of the nation’s 5G network. To qualify for these contracts, companies must be based in countries that support the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, an international agreement aimed at standardizing cyber security laws and enhancing cooperation against cybercrime.

This move effectively excludes Chinese companies, such as Huawei, from participating, as China has not endorsed the Budapest Convention.
