Botswana Government announced the discovery of a 2,492-carat diamond, the second-largest ever found, at the Karowe mine, owned by a Canadian firm. This follows the government’s efforts to strengthen its stake in the diamond industry through proposed legislation requiring mining companies to sell shares to local firms.
The use of advanced digital X-ray technology by Lucara Diamond enabled the detection of the stone, ensuring its preservation. Botswana, a major diamond producer, continues to benefit from the integration of digital innovations in the mining sector.
