Several municipalities in Brazil’s Amapá state are set to adopt Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contracts for smart city initiatives in 2025. Santana municipality will be the first in the north to implement such a PPP, with support from the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development. The PPP contract will cover streetlighting, photovoltaic energy generation, and telecommunications. This initiative aims to enhance public services and infrastructure in the region.
The 25-year contract includes the construction of a 2.4MWp photovoltaic plant, starting in September. The project also involves installing 100% LED luminaires, monitoring cameras, and free Wi-Fi in public squares. Local governments are discussing the creation of a consortium to advance PPP contracts and promote smart city development.
