Central Asia’s Energy Revival

Tajikistan’s government announced reconnecting to the Central Asian Integrated Power System (CAPS), a network facilitating regional electricity exchange. This effort, funded by the Asian Development Bank, underscores the government’s commitment to regional cooperation and digital energy interdependence. Despite delays, the reconnection is expected by July 2024.

Central Asian leaders recognize that regional potential is best achieved through collaboration. The government’s role is pivotal in reviving the trans-regional synergy of hydrocarbons and hydropower, supported by enhanced digital infrastructure and policies. This digital integration will ensure efficient, reliable power distribution and promote regional economic stability.
