Recent growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has been remarkable, and its impact is already felt across economies and societies. As UNCTAD’s Digital Economy Report shows, the digital economy is intrinsically linked with AI, leveraging machine learning algorithms for tasks such as data analytics, automation, and consumer personalization.
The intersection between AI and the digital economy has broad implications for sustainable development, impacting economic, social, and environmental goals globally. At the same time, at the national level there are only a handful of countries leading AI development.
