The digital economy is becoming a global interest because of the benefits in output, labor productivity, economic restructuring, and other potentials it brings to economies.
In Vietnam, there is a rapid expansion of the core digital economy because the growth rate of the digital sector is significantly higher than that of the whole economy. In 2007, the GDP of the digital sector accounted for only 1.45% of the national GDP. This figure reached 8.05% in 2020. According to the author’s calculations, the average annual growth rate of the economy in 14 years (2007–2020) was 6.01%.
