Digital Progress in Ireland

The government of Ireland had unveiled a progress report on its national digital strategy, revealing significant strides in embracing digital technology. Launched in 2022, the strategy aimed to position Ireland as a global leader in government technology through a cross-government approach and strong political leadership. It featured four key dimensions, with a focus on the digital transformation of businesses, highlighted by the impending launch of a new digital portal supported by an €85 million digital transition fund.

Additionally, an AI advisory council, chaired by AI ambassador Patricia Scanlon, was set to provide expert advice on AI policy. Minister Simon Coveney emphasized the importance of AI and the government’s commitment to its responsible use. Another dimension encompassed the digitization of public services, with initiatives like a digital health roadmap striving to ensure access to digital health records for all Irish citizens by 2030.
