Energy Department Fusion Research

The Department of Energy on Monday announced $112 million in funding for 12 projects that will focus on maximizing the use of high performance computers for nuclear fusion research.

Scientists working on the programs will use computers, including exascale computers, to model plasmas, study turbulence and to address problems such as energy loss, according to the agency.It is the latest round of research and development funding to be announced by the agency in recent months.
