The European Union’s Government is spearheading efforts to explore the effects of digital disconnection on well-being through the Disconnect2Reconnect project. Funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions program, this initiative investigates how deliberate breaks from digital media impact mental, physical, and emotional health in our increasingly connected world.
The project addresses the evolving norms of digital society, focusing on the balance between constant connectivity and the benefits of intentional disconnection. By analyzing data from both short-term and long-term studies, the EU aims to inform policies that promote digital well-being and reduce digital inequalities. This research supports the EU’s Digital Competence Framework and broader digital policies aimed at creating a healthier digital environment for all citizens.
