Hong Kong Government’s ESG Challenge

The Hong Kong Government is focusing on enhancing ESG and sustainability efforts, with only 2% of local organizations leading in these areas compared to 9% globally. Despite 86% recognizing ESG as crucial for reputation, only 43% of Hong Kong organizations produce regular reports, and just 13% have dedicated sustainability teams. 

Digital strategies are essential for advancing sustainability goals, especially as 68% of the population distrusts ESG communications. The government must promote stronger digital transparency and align initiatives with global sustainability frameworks to avoid reputational risks.
