Indonesia’s Digital Economy

The current attainment of Indonesia’s digital economy is a cause for concern. Data processed by the National Digital Literacy Initiative (2023) shows that foreign entities are benefiting more than domestic ones.

In the online market, 90 percent of the products sold are from outside sources and the import of consumer goods continues to increase every year. According to Indef, 74 percent of e-commerce sellers do not sell their own products. A study reveals that every year Indonesians spend 6.9 billion US dollars to purchase 1.02 billion imported products.
