The Pakistan Government is prioritizing drone technology to boost crop productivity and tackle challenges in Punjab’s agricultural sector. With Punjab accounting for 76% of the country’s grain output, drones are seen as essential for precision agriculture. They provide real-time data on crop health, monitor large areas efficiently, and enable precise application of fertilizers and pesticides.
Despite their benefits, widespread adoption faces hurdles like high costs and regulatory challenges. Government subsidies, training programs, and streamlined regulations are crucial to support this technological shift. The Pakistan-China Joint Lab for AI and Smart Agriculture at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad is leading pilot projects to advance drone use in smart agriculture.
