KP Expands Hydropower Infrastructure in Pakistan

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is enhancing its electricity transmission system through the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transmission and Grid Company (KPT&GC). This initiative allows the province to expand its own transmission lines, enabling the distribution of inexpensive hydropower from regions like Chitral/Dir, Kohistan, Swat, and Mansehra to industrial sectors via a modern digital network.

Led by Secretary Energy and Power Nisar Ahmad Khan, the government’s focus on digital energy solutions aims to boost infrastructure and support industrial growth with an additional 1,000 MW of hydropower capacity in the pipeline, emphasizing local resource utilization and strategic economic development.
