Meta Expands Cable Network

Meta is reportedly planning to invest over US$10 billion in a new subsea cable spanning more than 40,000 kilometers. This cable would be Meta’s first fully owned global infrastructure project, marking a shift in securing data traffic routes. The project is in early stages, aiming to create a dedicated global data line for Meta.

Investments in subsea cables highlight the demand for efficient, secure data networks, showing tech companies’ growing independence from traditional telecom providers.
