Morocco’s agriculture sector has demonstrated remarkable resilience despite adverse weather conditions during the two agricultural seasons between 2022 and 2024. According to a recent report from the Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts (DEPF), the value added by the sector surged by an impressive average of 6.2% in 2023, rebounding from a 12.9% nosedive the previous year.
The sector’s recovery can be attributed in part to a notable increase in rainfall over recent months. Cumulative rainfall stood at 226.2 millimeters at the end of March 31, 2024 — a 12% uptick from the previous campaign and a 2% rise compared to the five-year average.
