Myanmar Education Budget Doubles

Myanmar and Britain convened a symposium in Yangon to bolster academic ties, focusing on educational governance, quality assurance, and digital learning initiatives. Discussions highlighted the need for transparency in university operations and explored ways to align Myanmar’s higher education system with international digital standards.

Supported by the University of London, the dialogue aims to enhance Myanmar’s educational landscape, which receives around 1% of the country’s GDP in funding. As Myanmar revises its higher education legislation, initiatives like the Comprehensive Education Sector Review (CESR) and partnerships with countries like India, Australia, and the US underscore the government’s commitment to modernizing the sector and embracing global digital educational practices.
