Protecting KP’s glaciers

The government of Pakistan must urgently address the illegal cutting and exploitation of glaciers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which threatens ecological stability. Despite international commitments, Pakistan lacks specific glacier protection laws. The Pakistani government should leverage digital tools for monitoring and enforcing environmental regulations, investigating illegal activities, and raising awareness about glaciers’ importance.

Digital tracking systems can help protect these vital freshwater sources and preserve biodiversity. Legislative action at provincial and federal levels is essential to implement sustainable practices, ensuring ecological and climatic stability in the region.
