Robots Navigating Complex Environments

Scientists have made significant progress in developing artificial intelligence technology that enables robots to navigate and remember routes in complex natural environments. Inspired by the brain structures of ants, this new neural network could greatly improve the performance of agricultural robots and other machines that operate in dense and plant-filled landscapes.

One of the challenges that robots face when operating in unfamiliar environments is the difficulty of recognizing and remembering places they have visited.
