SDS Threatens Agriculture

The government of Uganda, representing the Group of 77 and China, has championed the United Nations’ declaration of 2025-2034 as the Decade on Combating Sand and Dust Storms(SDS). This initiative promotes proactive measures and integrates digital tools for monitoring and managing SDS.

The FAO and UNCCD have launched guidelines to help countries develop policies, improve land use, and enhance food security. Governments are urged to adopt digital solutions and sustainable practices to combat the adverse effects of SDS on agriculture, health, and the environment.
