Luxury retailer Cortina Watch has been asked by the Singapore government to engage the services of a third-party digital cyber-security vendor for an audit, after a data breach in 2023 saw the information of almost 4,000 individuals stolen and uploaded on the dark web.
The Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) said in a judgment that the retailer will not be fined, after taking into account the impact of the breach, prompt actions, and its cooperation during investigations. A total of 3,953 people were affected, and the information stolen included details such as their full names and contact numbers.
