Slovakia’s Major Transport Upgrade

The Slovakian government has approved 16 major transport projects to enhance national connectivity. These include improvements to the R2 and R4 Expressways, D1 and D3 highways, and several rail links. Strategic projects, valued over €50 million, will integrate advanced digital infrastructure to optimize traffic management and efficiency. A key development is a new tunnel section for the D1 highway linking Bratislava and Košice.

Digital technologies will play a crucial role in monitoring and managing these projects, ensuring sustainable and efficient transportation solutions. Concerns remain about potential environmental impacts, particularly regarding local water tables.
