South Sudan’s Digital Expansion

The government of South Sudan, through the National Communications Authority (NCA), has licensed SpaceX’s Starlink to enhance digital connectivity. This move aims to improve the country’s 12.1% internet penetration, particularly in rural and underdeveloped areas, aligning with the NCA’s mandate. Starlink will offer four pricing plans, ranging from $38.19 to $5,005.40 monthly, with compliant equipment costs.

Payments will be made in South Sudanese pounds, and local distributors will handle service delivery. Unauthorized importation of Starlink equipment will violate the National Communications Act, ensuring regulated digital expansion.
