U.S. Urged on Healthcare Cybersecurity

Amid escalating cyber threats, the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) advocates for heightened government intervention in bolstering U.S. healthcare cybersecurity measures. Collaborating with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), WEDI emphasizes the pivotal role of digital infrastructure protection. Recommendations include proactive audits, voluntary security assessments, and setting minimum accreditation standards. Urgent actions proposed encompass expediting digital enrollment processes, accommodating paper-based transactions, and augmenting cybersecurity funding.

Additionally, WEDI underscores the necessity of establishing a dedicated Office of National Cybersecurity Policy to streamline response efforts. This concerted effort underscores the imperative for robust governmental support in fortifying the digital resilience of the U.S. healthcare sector.
