UN Pact Boosts Digital Infrastructure

The United Nations has adopted a Pact for the Future, emphasizing digital public infrastructure (DPI) to strengthen cooperation and multilateralism among member nations. The initiative focuses on increasing investment in digital public goods and DPI, especially in developing countries, with a commitment to open standards, interoperability, and secure digital systems to build public trust.

Governments are urged to adopt universal safeguards for inclusive and responsible DPI while sharing best practices. The Pact aims to bridge the digital divide and accelerate progress on global goals, with early pledges supporting universal DPI safeguards.
