Underwater Data Sending

Researchers from the University of York have successfully sent bits of data secured using quantum cryptography from the UK to the Republic of Ireland for the first time. The experiment, conducted using a fiber optic cable called Rockabill that runs under the Irish Sea, aimed to overcome data leakage issues associated with quantum communications.

Quantum communications rely on the principle that particles of light can transmit data along optical cables.
