3D Printed Human Organs

Researchers at Stanford University have been awarded a $26.3 million grant from the US Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to advance the field of therapeutic cloning and develop the technology to 3D print human organs.

The project, named Health Enabling Advancements through Regenerative Tissue Printing (HEART), aims to create a functioning bioprinter supported by a bank of bioreactors. The bioprinter will utilize specific types of cultivated cells that will be printed in their appropriate locations to gradually build up organs and tissues.
