Seychelles Flood Guidance

The Seychelles government, in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), has implemented the Flash Flood Guidance System (FFGS) to enhance flash flood warnings. This digital system combines atmospheric predictions with soil condition readings for impact-based forecasting. The Seychelles Meteorological Authority (SMA) is installing additional automatic stations to ensure accurate data collection, supported by the FFGS project.

The project includes extensive training for local forecasters to tailor the system to Seychelles’ needs, supported by international partners. The FFGS aims to provide real-time guidance on flash flood threats, with a focus on data sharing and cooperation among stakeholders to ensure effective disaster response.
