In collaboration with IFAD, the government of Sao Tome and Principe has financed seven digital-focused investment projects in the agriculture sector. These initiatives have boosted rural community development, created digital cooperatives, and revitalized value chains for cocoa, coffee, and pepper in organic digital markets. Promoting rural digital entrepreneurship, the projects support poor rural populations, especially women.
With a strong government partnership, IFAD has improved digital policy frameworks for market access and food security, particularly benefiting smallholder farmers, women, and youth. Emphasizing digital solutions and grassroots community organizations, this collaboration continues to enhance digital rural development and inclusion in Sao Tome and Principe.
