The Indian Government’s Smart Cities Mission has effectively utilized nearly 97% of the allocated funds for 11 cities in Tamil Nadu, focusing on enhancing urban infrastructure. These cities have completed 706 out of 733 projects, with a total expenditure of ₹17,390 crore. The mission, emphasizing sustainable and inclusive development, has accelerated project completion through an area-based development approach, with a focus on digital and smart solutions.
The mission’s progress is monitored through a multi-level review structure, involving both State and National committees.
