Albania’s Waste Shipment

The Albanian Government is investigating the unauthorized export of 800 tons of suspected hazardous waste from its port, which was intercepted en route to Southeast Asia. The waste, believed to be toxic industrial byproducts, is being returned to Europe under the United Nations Basel Convention.

 Singaporean and Albanian authorities are collaborating with digital tracking systems to ensure the safe return of the containers. The situation underscores the government’s commitment to enforcing international environmental regulations and utilizing digital resources for monitoring waste transportation.
