New Cybersecurity Law in Australia

The Australian Government is tackling ransomware attacks with a new Cyber Security Act that mandates businesses and government entities to disclose ransom payments. This shift from an outright ban to transparency aims to reveal the scale of ransomware payments and improve cyber threat responses.

The Act’s digital role includes creating a comprehensive record of ransom transactions, aligning with international cybersecurity standards, and incorporating advanced protocols for connected devices. This legislation seeks to enhance Australia’s digital infrastructure and overall cybersecurity, marking a significant advancement in national cyber defense.
