The Pakistan government faces criticism from the Senate Functional Committee on Devolution for recreating Health and Education Ministries, which it deemed a constitutional violation. The committee urged the federal government to abolish these ministries in adherence to the 18th Constitutional Amendment, which assigns these responsibilities to provincial governments.
Highlighting the role of the government’s inefficient resource management, the committee suggested that coordination on health matters be handled through the Council of Common Interests (CCI). It emphasized that maintaining federal ministries creates redundancy and financial strain. The committee also stressed the need for digital coordination to enhance efficiency and support provincial administrations in the health and education sectors.
