The government of Cabo Verde, the European Union, and the EIB have secured €300 million in funding for enhancing the country’s energy, digital, and port sectors. Over half of this amount will be allocated to developing a comprehensive electricity grid, generation, and storage system by 2029. This initiative is part of Cabo Verde’s national electricity master plan, which aims to decrease reliance on fossil fuels and increase renewable energy capacity.
The European Union’s Global Gateway strategy underpins this financing, reflecting a commitment to sustainable development through digital and energy infrastructure improvements. The funding will support the transition to renewable energy and digital innovations, positioning Cabo Verde as a leader in these areas within West Africa.
