EU Right to Repair Law

The European Union has adopted a new law granting consumers the right to repair common household appliances, including smartphones, even after the warranty period ends. Proposed by the European Commission in 2023, the law aims to promote repair over disposal.

The agreement, still pending approval from the European Parliament and EU countries, is expected to simplify and reduce the cost of repairing products. Lead negotiator René Repasi highlighted the positive impact on consumers and the environment, emphasizing the fight against climate change.
