During a multi-stakeholder roundtable discussion in Suva, Fiji, Minister for Communications Manoa Kamikamica announced plans for increased digital connectivity in the region. He highlighted initiatives like the Central Pacific Connect and South Pacific Connect, which aimed to expand the number of fiber subsea cable networks.
One notable project mentioned was the interlinking cable between Fiji and French Polynesia, with onward connections to Chile, the USA, and Australia. Kamikamica praised the cooperation of stakeholders and their commitment to improving digital services for Fijians, expressing satisfaction with the collaboration towards achieving universal and meaningful connectivity.
